Nora

Just 2 km from Nora Club Hotel & SPA is one of the most important archaeological sites in Sardinia: Nora, an ancient city of Phoenician origin traditionally considered the first city in Sardinia.

Founded by the Iberian warrior Norax of Tartesso around the 8th century B.C., Nora is located on the promontory of Capo Pula, on an isthmus opposite the islet of the same name with the Spanish Tower.

The development of Nora occurred mainly with the Punics, who turned it into one of the most important trading centres in the Mediterranean, and then with the Roman conquest in the 2nd century.
Today, ruins from the Roman era are mainly visible, such as the Theatre of Nora, one of the most fascinating monuments on the island, and the Thermal Baths.

Nearby, however, there are traces of the Nuragic period as well as remains of a necropolis with tombs dating from the late 7th to early 6th century BC.
